# Marketing Agent

The Marketing Agent drafts blog posts, LinkedIn posts, and newsletters in your company's voice from your own docs, code, pull requests, and tickets.

## What it writes

| Format | What you get |
| --- | --- |
| **Blog post** | A title, subheadings, images where they help, and a closing call to action. |
| **LinkedIn post** | Paragraphs only, no headings, under 1,300 characters unless you ask for longer. The agent gives you any link in the chat, to post as a comment. |
| **Newsletter** | A subject line, a two-sentence intro, two to five sections, and a sign-off, or a single section when you ask for one. |

For a blog post, the agent picks the type that fits the reader's question, each with its own structure and length: explainer, decision guide or comparison (including "alternatives to" posts), implementation guide, migration guide, benchmark or audit, playbook, cost or ROI guide, point of view, or launch. See [Turn shipped changes into launch content](/marketing-agent/launch-content/).

Images are illustrations and diagrams the agent draws, never photographs, at most three per draft. They use the colors in **Visual Style Guidelines** in your Company Profile, or a neutral palette when none are set. They cannot include logos, uploaded images, or named fonts. You can ask for a different image, a change, or none.

## What it reads

Before it drafts, the agent reads your **Company Profile** (**Settings** > **Organization** > **Company Profile**): your product, audiences, competitors, brand names, **Tone and Voice**, and **Visual Style Guidelines**. If no tone and voice is on file, it asks who the audience is, what tone you want, and one sentence about the product instead of guessing. See [Company Profile and Domains](/agent/company-profile/).

It follows its own custom instructions, set in **Settings** > **Marketing Agent** > **Custom instructions**, which never apply to the Docs Agent. See [Custom instructions](/agent/custom-instructions/).

Where you have connected them, it also reads:

- Your documentation and code repositories, through GitHub or GitLab, including merged pull requests, changelog files, and release tags.
- Closed tickets in Jira or Linear.
- Knowledge bases and uploaded reference documents. See [Reference documents and repository notes](/agent/reference-documents/).
- Launch documents and plans in Notion, Google Drive, Confluence, or Slack.
- The links, files, and pull request numbers you add to the brief, and a Journeys report when you start from one.
- Public pages: your website and blog, competitors' pages, and discussions on Reddit, Hacker News, and GitHub.

Research is read-only, and a draft never links to or names a private document. See [How claims stay accurate](/marketing-agent/accurate-claims/).

## Where drafts go

Each draft opens in the Marketing Agent editor, where you can edit it directly. From the toolbar:

- **Copy** copies the open draft.
- **Download** saves every draft in the session, as Markdown by default, with HTML in the menu. Several drafts, or drafts with images, download as one ZIP file.

The agent publishes only when you ask it to and name the destination. Ask it to add a draft to one of your documentation repositories and it confirms the path if you did not name one, then opens a pull request for your team to review and merge. The agent never overwrites an existing page.

## Start a session

1. Click **New session** in the sidebar. On the **Marketing** tab, or when the Marketing Agent is your organization's only agent, it opens the Marketing Agent. Otherwise, select **Marketing Agent** from the menu.
2. Select **Blog post**, **LinkedIn post**, or **Newsletter**, or describe what you want in the box under the cards and let the agent fill in the brief.
3. Fill in the brief. Only the first field is required; the agent asks about the rest in the chat. To approve the outline before it writes, select the **Show me an outline first and wait for my go-ahead** checkbox.
4. Click **Create draft**. The brief becomes your first message in the chat.

You can also start from the dashboard's **Start a conversation** box (select **Marketing** when both agents are on), from a Journeys report (see [Write a post that answers a buyer question](/marketing-agent/buyer-question-post/)), or by typing `/blog-post`, `/linkedin-post`, or `/newsletter` and a topic in the chat.

Once a draft is open, the shortcuts **Brand voice check**, **Claims check**, **Shorter**, and **Variant for LinkedIn** sit under the message box. Each adds a request for you to send.

## Access

Any member of your organization can start a Marketing Agent session. See the [Agents overview](/agent/) for both agents, and [Credits and usage](/workspace/credits-and-usage/) for how agent work is counted.

## What it does not do

- **It does not publish to Webflow or any other CMS.** You publish the post on your site yourself, from a copy or a download.
- **No automation runs it.** Every Marketing Agent session starts from the editor, an [MCP client](/agent/mcp/), or a Journeys report. Automations, Slack, Jira, and pull request comments start Docs Agent sessions only.
- **It does not post or send for you.** You post the LinkedIn draft and send the newsletter yourself.

## FAQ

### Can I schedule the Marketing Agent?

No. The **Release Marketing Brief** automation runs on the Docs Agent: by default every Monday, it drafts a Slack-ready brief of the customer-facing features that shipped in the last 7 days, as raw material for your marketing team. See [Automations](/agent/scheduled-agents/).

### Does it use the Docs Agent's custom instructions?

No. Each agent has its own. The Marketing Agent never reads text you save for the Docs Agent.

### Can one brief produce more than one format?

Yes. Select the other formats under **Also make, from the same brief**. Each one is drafted as its own file.
