# Organization memory

Organization memory is the notes EkLine's agents keep between sessions. A later session can start from what earlier ones learned about your organization.

## Who writes it

The agent writes it. While it works, the agent saves notes it expects to need again, and later sessions read them. You don't write or approve these notes. No one has to turn memory on.

## What it is shared across

Your organization has one memory. Every session reads and writes it:

- Both agents: Docs Agent sessions and Marketing Agent sessions use the same memory.
- Every way a session starts: the editor, a GitHub pull request, a GitLab merge request, Slack, Discord, a Jira ticket, an automation or a Journeys report.
- Every member: a note saved in your session can shape a teammate's session later.

Memory is kept on EkLine's servers. Each organization has its own, and a session uses only its own organization's memory. For how EkLine handles your data, see the [Trust Center](https://ekline.io/trust-center).

## What you can and can't do with it

You can't view or edit organization memory in the app today. There is no page for it in **Settings**, and it is not shown in the editor.

If an agent acts on something wrong or out of date, put the correct rule in [Custom instructions](/agent/custom-instructions/). The agent follows them in every new session.

## How it differs from Custom instructions

| | Organization memory | Custom instructions |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who writes it | The agent | You |
| Can you see and edit it | No | Yes, under **Settings** |
| Which agents | Both agents share one memory | Each agent has its own |
| Best for | Details the agent picks up while working | Rules you want followed every time |

Use [Custom instructions](/agent/custom-instructions/), [Company Profile](/agent/company-profile/) and [repository notes](/agent/reference-documents/) for anything you want to control. Treat memory as the agent's own notes, not as a setting.

## FAQ

### Why does the agent remember something from another session?

Every session in your organization shares one memory, across both agents and every member. A note one session saved can appear in another.

### Can I see what is in memory?

No. The app has no view of organization memory today.

### Can I delete or correct a memory?

Not directly. Put the correct rule in [Custom instructions](/agent/custom-instructions/) for the agent that got it wrong.

### Does memory replace Custom instructions?

No. Memory is what the agent noted for itself. Custom instructions are what you tell it, and you can read and change them at any time.

### Is memory shared with other organizations?

No. Each organization has its own memory.
